Rise of the Thrall Lord
A young adult Bronze Dragon
Vestiralanna “Ves” Greymantle
The oldest daughter of the Greymantle family of Bronze Dragons.
Ves was captured by Theramon and implanted with a Mind Seed using a powerful Astral Diamond. She was then given to the self-styled Dragon Master, Anya. Ves was rescued off Anya’s airship, the Cloud Hammer by the Knights of the Couch.
After her escape, fearing the dark thoughts invading her mind, she shunned her sisters and companions and flew to the Greystone Temples of Palt. Unable to find a cure among the priests there, and able only to slow down the process with Protection from Evil, she traveled to Lukescros and met with the Knights of the Couch.
The party convinced Elistra Moonglow to come out of hiding to try and cure Ves. Elistra determined that her brother must have used a massive power crystal of some sort to have been able to infect a dragon with his Mind Seed, and it would require a similar powerful artifact to remove it.
Through their research, the party determined that the artifact must be one of the seven huge astral diamonds created by the Mad Emperor, Narodon. They surmise that there must have been one of these crystals in each of the seven Towers of Power constructed by the Emperor. The party allied themselves with the Knights of the Rose who were already on their way to the Marsh Tower to search for lost comrades and put an end to the undead hordes recently sent forth from the tower. So a force of twenty brave souls set forth on the airship Remington toward the mist shrouded tower to find a cure for Ves.
As of late, Ves has been battling depression after all that has happened to her and her family: losing their parents, being driven from their home, kidnapped and mind raped by Anya and Theramon… Glolindir, also depressed over losing Elistra yet again, has become close friends with the young woman, each filling the void with the others company. Recently, Glo sent his Raven familiar away in an effort to keep his childhood friend safe from impending harm. He replaced her with a pseudo dragon, whom he gave Ves the honor of naming. The young woman is still deciding.
Warm, friendly, pleasant and clearly caring of others, Ves moves with unconscious grace and poise. She dislikes violence, and will only act in protection of others. Her speech patterns and accent hint at a noble background or etiquette training.
In human form, Ves appears as a young woman, 5’ 2” tall. She has fair skin, long blonde hair with faint green high-lights, and her eyes are a vivid aqua-blue-green shade. She wears a shimmering bronze-colored dress as fine as silk, but with a metallic gleam to it. The exceedingly thin fabric does little to hide her well endowed figure, but is exceedingly durable. She wears slippers of similar material. Apparent age is about 17.
- Ves is fond of the archer Martan, and he is infatuated with her. Athough it was a huge blow when he recently discovered she is a dragon.
- Ves has two sisters, Ruka and Maya.
- Ves’s father is Rodric.
- Ves’s mother is Yatharia, a berserker Storm Dragon, who has given up the storm call to raise a family.
- Appears in story The Battle of Fisheye Cove.
Magic Items: Currently none. All her items were taken when she was prisoner of the Cloud Hammer.
Tactics: Against non-evil opponents, Ves will first try using Diplomacy, Calm Emotions or even Charm Person spells to defuse combat situations.
If innocents are in danger, an Invisibility spell and a Snatch and fly away are typical strategies for either taking away the danger to be dealt with elsewhere, or taking the innocent to safety.
Combat is always the last option, but when Ves commits to it, she enters it with a ferocity that can be truly frightening. She always fights in dragon form, taking out enemy spell casters first.
When faced with true evil or defending the innocent, she fights relentless, reminding all that a Dragon is not to be trifled with.
